MEET ME

Gina Granto-Penque, IBCLC

My work with mothers and babies began decades before lactation became my profession. Breastfeeding has been woven into my life and identity for many years, eventually becoming the focus of a career devoted to supporting families and advancing breastfeeding care.

Over the years, my experience has taken me through maternity and hospital care, pediatric practices, Women’s and Infants organizations, private practice, professional education, and community advocacy. I have provided lactation care to families, educated physicians and other healthcare professionals, participated in hospital-system-wide breastfeeding promotion, and helped strengthen support for breastfeeding families within healthcare settings.

I am a retired La Leche League Leader and advisor, and my community breastfeeding advocacy has been recognized over the years. I have also had the unique experience of managing a maternity milk depot for a New York State human milk bank, helping mothers donate their milk to babies who needed it.

Today, I bring all of that experience into a private practice where my attention is focused on one mother, one baby, and one family at a time.

Individual Lactation Care

  • Comprehensive Lactation Consultation

Individual lactation care tailored to you and your baby. Each consultation begins with listening to your concerns, understanding your history, and assessing feeding so we can develop a practical plan that fits your needs and goals.

  • Prenatal Breastfeeding Education

Prepare for breastfeeding with confidence before your baby arrives. Prenatal sessions provide practical, individualized education about what to expect in the early days, positioning and latch, establishing milk supply, common challenges, and ways your partner can provide meaningful support.

  • Breastfeeding Support From Newborn to Weaning

Breastfeeding support throughout your journey—from the newborn days through weaning. Whether you’re navigating early challenges, working to maintain your milk supply, returning to work, introducing pumping or supplementation, or simply need reassurance along the way. Individual support is available when you need it.

What’s Included

Detailed Health & Feeding History

A complete review of your health, pregnancy, birth, breastfeeding, pumping, supplementation, and feeding history to help identify factors that may be affecting your experience.

Observation of your baby at the breast, with attention to latch, positioning, milk transfer, sucking patterns, and overall feeding effectiveness.

Infant Feeding Assessment

An assessment of your baby’s oral function, including tongue and lip movement, sucking patterns, and coordination. This helps identify oral factors that may be affecting latch, milk transfer, comfort, or feeding efficiency.

Infant Oral Function Assessment

We’ll look at factors that may be affecting milk production, milk transfer, or your baby’s ability to receive enough milk. Together, we’ll create a practical plan to address your concerns, whether you’re building supply, managing supplementation, pumping, or working toward your breastfeeding goals.
